Mindfulness Workshop
Mindfulness Workshop at the National Conference of Australian Counselling Association

I had the privilege to present a 90 minute Mindfulness Workshop, which was well attended. The workshop looked at the theory and practice of mindfulness including the theory of the mind. It provided useful tools and techniques for the therapists to incorporate mindfulness in their practice and ended with a 15 minute guided meditation.

The 2016 Australian Counselling Association, National Conference was held between 23rd-25th of September, at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Adelaide. The conference theme focused on “Multicultural and Indigenous Mental Health and Well Being” and it was named as “Kanyini”, the principle of connectedness through caring and responsibility that underpins Aboriginal life.

The conference was well attended by counsellors and psychotherapists within Australia, as well as South East Asia. It was a great opportunity to network with colleagues and learn about the latest news and research in the field of psychotherapy. It provided a unique chance to hear about the stories and the wisdom of the indigenous counsellors.

I am happy to report that I have been invited to present a similar workshop on mindfulness and its benefits at the 5th Asian Pacific Rim Conference, which will be held in Singapore in 2017.

A big thank you for the Australian Counselling Association for their tremendous efforts to unite counsellors and psychotherapists not only in Australia but also around the world.
